Short Term Financial Aid

Are you experiencing financial hardship?

Through our fundraising efforts, NABS is able to offer short-term financial aid to those who meet the eligibility criteria. Specifically, those involved in the creation, production and placement of Canadian advertising. In order to qualify, you must have worked in the industry for at least 2 years within the past 5 consecutive years and be residing in Canada at the time of your application.

This aid is intended to provide temporary assistance to individuals experiencing financial hardship and is available only for a limited period to those facing such challenges.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  1. Complete NABS Intake Form
  2. You will be contacted by a member of the NABS staff within two business days.
  3. If you are eligible, you will be asked to complete a form about your current financial situation, including, but not limited to, household expenses and any current income or assets.
  4. Depending on your financial situation and the initial review, your information may be sent to an independent financial advisor. They will provide recommendations for the Allocations Committee’s consideration, as well as suggestions to help you strengthen your financial circumstances.
  5. The Allocations Committee consists of industry professionals who review applicants’ cases without knowing the identity of the applicants. After careful consideration and discussion, the committee decides on eligibility for aid.
  6. The total process above will take 4-6 weeks from the date we receive your financial application form.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM NABS

We will move quickly to determine what help we can provide and what actions may be necessary for you to re-establish independence from NABS. We may ask you to take career, credit or personal counselling as a condition of our financial assistance.

WHAT NABS EXPECTS OF YOU

We expect that you will be totally honest with us, and our agencies, in all regards. We expect that you will provide full and truthful supporting documentation to your claims. We expect that you will seriously consider any advice offered.

If the above requirements are not met, NABS reserves the right to withdraw support.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED?

NABS Financial Aid is made possible through the generosity of our donors and is therefore a limited resource. In order to help the largest number in our community, we unfortunately cannot provide aid in the following circumstances;

  • Retirement Planning
  • Entrepreneurship-related expenses such as business planning/loans
  • Replacement for Government Assistance
    (Long Term Disability, EI, etc.)
  • Legal fees of any kind
  • Emergency Medical Fees
  • Debt to Payday Loan Companies
  • Student Loans
  • Taxes
  • Credit Card payments or any type of debt payment
