  • What is NABS-BEC?

    NABS stands for the National Advertising Benevolence Society and it is a registered Canadian Charity that was started in 1983 to support those working in the media, marketing, advertising and communications industry.
    In 2003, its Quebec counterpart, BEC was established.

  • How many offices does NABS-BEC have?

    We have offices in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal and offer services in both English and French.

  • How does NABS-BEC HELP?

  • Who can apply to NABS-BEC for support?

    Anyone working in the marketing, media, advertising creative, PR, or social media field, as well as anyone in ADVERTISING RELATED film, TV, radio, music production or photography.

  • ARE THERE ANY SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS for support?

    Have to have worked in the industry for at least 2 years
    Have to have worked in the industry not more than 5 years ago
    Short-Term Financial Aid can only be applied for/received once in a 3-year period
    Expect 4-6 weeks from initial intake discussion to final decision on support.

  • Are there any ways in which NABS CANNOT offer support?

    NABS unfortunately cannot offer financial support regarding any of the following;
    Child Support
    Legal Fees
    Payday Loan Repayments
    Gambling Debt
    Anything for which a government support/funding program already exists
    Debt Restructuring
    Expenses related to entrepreneurship/running a business

  • HOW IS NABS-BEC FUNDED?

    NABS-BEC is supported entirely through community fundraising initiatives. The largest of these fundraisers is our annual media sale in which Canadian Media companies donate media space, the proceeds from which go directly back to funding our programs and services. All donations are eligible for a charitable tax receipt.
