Toronto, ON, November 12, 2020 – Today, nabs announced the launch of a group health benefits program to assist people and families in our industry who may not have access to a benefits plan for themselves or their families.
“As part of nabs commitment to the health and wellbeing of our industry, we spent considerable time sourcing a group program that would most closely meet the needs of our industry – freelancers/contractors, retirees, & the unemployed to ensure people have the coverage they need, especially during this ongoing pandemic” says Louise Bérubé, Director of Allocations and Services.
In all provinces (except for Quebec*), our partner is Medavie Blue Cross who have created two options & price plans for consideration – one option includes LTD coverage at a reasonable cost. To explore the offering and options, please visit nabstoday.ca or nabs.org.
nabs will be charging a one-time administration fee to cover the future and ongoing costs of the group plan set up and administration.
Jay Bertram, nabs Executive Director explained further “as a former Agency President, I am very aware of all the freelancers & contractors that contribute to our industry, and not having access to a reasonably priced group benefits program, and the fluctuations of working as an independent contractor has impacted their ability to provide comprehensive health coverage for themselves and/or their families. As this pandemic continues, and until we have a vaccine in place, ensuring you have health coverage in place will be paramount.”
To register for these benefits programs please contact Loraine Brown (nabs West) lbrown@nabs.org; or Louise Berube lberube@nabs.org (nabs Central & Atlantic Canada)
* we are unable to extend this group offer to the province of Quebec. The nabs-bec team is working diligently to launch something similar in Quebec in 2021 in compliance with provincial health benefits guidelines.
