In addition, her second child was born prematurely which also required her to leave work early to tend to his special needs. NABS was able to provide Michelle with financial assistance and financial counseling to help her manage the unforeseen medical expenses she and her husband incurred as a result of their children’s health concerns. 6 years ago, Barbara Glover was diagnosed with Keratoconus—a rare degenerative eye disorder that causes structural changes to the cornea, resulting in the obstruction of vision. NABS in association with the Paul Mulvihill Foundation was able to provide Barbara with the additional funding she needed for a surgical procedure not covered by OHIP. Without the surgery, Barbara would have required a corneal transplant to save her eyesight. Barbara is recovering well from her surgery and looks forward to continued personal and professional growth.
